Paulette Puetz

Paulette Puetz started dancing at the age of 5 at the Humboldt School of Dance. She encountered many different instructors at an early age however, the majority of her training came under the direction of Jacquie Huck. As a student, she participated in CDTA (Canadian Dance Teacher's Association) and RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) examinations and competed at dance festivals throughout Saskatchewan.

In addition to dance training, Paulette participated in various sporting activities as well as studying the piano, flute and voice. One summer, she toured Europe for 4 weeks with the Canadian Youth On Tour Choir and Band. She also sang with the musical group Voices in Thyme for several years.

Upon graduation from Muenster High School, Paulette took a Business Administration Course at SIAST and found employment at PAMI (the Prairie Agricultural Machinery Institute) in Humboldt. During this time she also instructed dance in the communities of Watrous, Humboldt and Middle Lake. After 5 years of employment at PAMI the desire to follow her passion for dance led Paulette to start her own dance studio business in Melfort. She started the first season with 45 students and has grown the enrollment to more than 160 for the 2007/2008 dance season. The Melfort Dance Centre offers classes and choreography in tap, jazz, ballet, musical theatre, lyrical and hip hop.

Paulette has completed the CDTA teaching certificates in tap, jazz and ballet as well as the ADAPT (Associated Dance Arts for Profeessional Teachers) certification program. Several of her students have gone on to professional dance careers including dance instructors, musical theatre majors, and performers on cruise ships and in musicals.

She is very active on the CDTA Board of Directors, having served as Treasurer for 14 years. She currently is the Saskatchewan Branch President and serves as Treasurer for the CDTA National Board. Most recently, Paulette has been appointed and is training to be a CDTA Junior Grades Ballet Examiner.

Paulette has adjudicated at several dance competitions, been guest instructor at workshops and summer courses throughout Saskatchewan. She also feels it is important to continually keep furthering her education and participates in many training seminars and courses both in Canada and the United States.

She and her husband Rick, reside in Humboldt with their daughters Cassidy and Shaelyn.
